Lighting the puja candles of the "Sattaboriphan" (สัตตะบริภัณฑ์) on Wan Pak Pi (วันปากปี), opening the Thai New Year — a traditional rite for releasing misfortune, easing hardship, obstacles and distress of body and mind; for prolonging life, complexion, happiness and strength (ayu, vanno, sukhang, balang); and for welcoming good fortune, favourable opportunities, and smoothness in business and in life.
May the Triple Gem, the sacred powers, the masters of the lineage, the virtue of the incantations and the yantra-candle grant to the owner of each candle the good outcomes described in the traditional texts.
Wishing everyone happiness in the New Year.
P.S. The Sattaboriphan candle is, by the texts, to be lit only on the occasion of Wan Pak Pi.
It will be lit again only when the next year comes round.
